“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” Anthony Bourdain
I´m a twenty something year old recent college graduate with my whole life in front of me and absolutely no idea where to start. I´ve always wanted more out of life than the typical 9 to 5 desk job. I wanted something that fed my soul, pushed me out of my comfort zone, made me laugh and made me cry. Though I loved my life I always felt like something was missing, that there was something more and I just wasn’t sure what it was. When I left on my first big adventure to study abroad in Spain I fell completely head over heels in love with traveling: immersing myself in different languages and cultures, where history is not only read but experienced, learning something new every day, and opening my eyes to the world. Once I started I couldn’t stop. I lived, breathed, and dreamed about traveling. As a newbie entering into the world of budget travel I decided to jot down my adventures and the tips and tricks that I’ve learned along the way. And so I present The Hayley Diaries: the epic successes and just as disastrous fails of a twenty something year old stumbling her way through life and around the world.
